This past week, Ariana Grandeās highly anticipated album Positions was released on all listening platforms, garnering widespread praise. In Grande's track with The Weekend, "Off the Table," she expresses feelings of being stuck between whether or not to move on with now-boyfriend Dalton Gomez after losing her ex boyfriend, Mac Miller, to a drug overdose. She starts the song by addressing Miller, saying, "Will I ever love the same way again? / Will I ever love somebody like the way I did you? / Never thought you'd be so damn hard to replace." In one verse, she sings about her confusion over her emotional state. She says, "Might not be quite yet healed or ready / Should I be goin' too steady? / But I just wanna know is love complеtely off the table?" The pop singer openly conveys her deep sense of loss, and paints a clearer picture of the deep connection the couple must have had. The Weeknd sings as Gomez, her new partner, willing to wait for her to be ready. The song gives an inside look into Grandeās current healing headspace in her new relationship. Grande and Miller broke up after two and a half years of dating shortly after Coachella 2018. The two had been friends for a long time, and Grande revealed on Twitter that Millerās substance abuse issues made their relationship toxic. "I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be," she wrote in May 2018. āOf course I didnāt share about how hard or scary it was while it was happening but it was. I will continue to pray from the bottom of my heart that he figures it all out and that any other woman in this position does as well." In the same year, Grande started dating, and quickly became engaged to, SNL star Pete Davidson. Shortly after, Miller passed away from an accidental overdose, leading Grande to break up with Davidson and go on a personal journey regarding her relationship to love. The āThank U Nextā singer spoke to Vogue in July 2019 about mourning Miller. "By no means was what we had perfect, but, like, f*ck. He was the best person ever, and he didnāt deserve the demons he had. I was the glue for such a long time, and I found myself becoming...less and less sticky. The pieces just started to float away.ā Fans took to social media to express their reactions to āOff the Table.ā The lyrics for āOff the Tableā are currently available to view on Genius, along with some explainers from Grande. The song is currently available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music. NEXT: What To Expect From Ariana Grande's Next Album
